The BASICchip is not just for the hobbyist.
Coridium was tasked with the design of a burn-in and characterization of upto 2000 LEDs in parallel. Combining the BASICchip for control and the same FT232 we use in the USB dongles made the communication and control trivial. Around that core a digital current source capable of 12bit accurate drive of upto 100 mA was designed for banks of nearly 40 LEDs. With this approach a standard rack was built with 50 controllers all driven from a PC that collected data directly in Excel.
